What to do & Where to Go
Portpatrick is just a short drive from the park. It is a very popular fishing village and is centred around a pretty harbour which provides excellent shelter to the many fishing boats and yachts . The cliffs either side of the village offer challenging yet stunning walks with views across to the Mountains of Mourne and Ireland. It offers a wide variety of excellent bars and restaurants to chose from, specialising in Fresh Fish, locally produced meat and other home made recipies. Souvenir shops and local craft shops are lovely to have a wander around. There are two golf courses as well as a Pitch and Putt.

There are three golf clubs in this area. Stranraer Golf Club is less than a mile away, and there are two Golf Clubs in Portpatrick to chose from. A round of golf can be arranged.
Cycling – over 180 miles of National Cycle Network runs through Dumfries and Galloway. Whether you are a beginner or experienced, D & G has routes that suit the whole family.
Wildlife is amazing. Purely by walking around the park and surrounding woodland you will come across a wide variety of local wildlife. Some of the UK’s most spectacular and endangered species make their home here including red squirrels, deer, red kites, ospreys, dolphins and seals.

Ryan Centre, Stranraer, has various sports and swimming pool facilities.
Agnew Park, Stranraer – adventure playground, ride on train, paddle boats on the lake, sand play area, crazy golf, go karts, picnic area and shop. A fun day out for all!
Scotland is famed for its history and the stories of it’s turbulent past are written in the stories, monuments, castles, abbeys and other historic attractions that still stand. For a short car journey visiting them gives us an insight of how history was made.
